Full Version: Simultaneous BLE MIDI Input and Output on Android

Dear all,

I have a question regarding BLE MIDI on Android and whether my planned setup is supported by MobileSheets.

My setup
  • Android tablet: Lenovo Tab P12
  • App: MobileSheets
  • BLE MIDI foot controller: Hotone Ampero Control
  • BLE MIDI adapter on my Line 6 HX Stomp: CME WIDI Master (or WIDI Thru6 BT)

Intended workflow
  1. The Ampero Control connects to MobileSheets via BLE MIDI.
  2. A footswitch press sends a MIDI command to MobileSheets (e.g. "Next Song").
  3. MobileSheets changes to the next song in the setlist.
  4. When the new song opens, MobileSheets automatically sends the corresponding Program Change (and possibly CC messages) via BLE MIDI to the CME WIDI adapter connected to the HX Stomp.

So MobileSheets would need to use one BLE MIDI connection as an input (Ampero Control) and another BLE MIDI connection as an output (CME WIDI) at the same time.
Is this supported on Android?

If so, are there any recommended MIDI or Bluetooth settings (Google MIDI library, connection type, etc.) that should be used to make this configuration reliable?

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Wolfgang
Yes, if you switch the MIDI library (Settings->MIDI Settings->Configure MIDI Connections) to "Google", you can pick which input and output ports to use. So you'd use the input from the Ampero Control, and the output for the CME WIDI. You'll need to be actively connected to both devices over Bluetooth. I've never tested connecting to two different Bluetooth MIDI devices at once, but in theory, it should work. Otherwise you'd have to use a MIDI router like the mioXM or another equivalent to be the sole connection to the tablet.
