Undocumented layers feature
#1
There is an option in the layers window, which I've circled in red in the attached screenshot (next to the option to link layer visibilities), that is not documented in the user guide. Please can anyone tell me what it does?

I don't love the description - I should probably modify it. Basically, all of the pages can be collapsed in the layers window. Turning that setting on will ensure that a layer node is expanded to show all the annotations under it if that layer node is the active layer. This is to help users that have an incredibly large number of annotations and want to control which layers are expanded.

@Mike: the description is not too bad imho, both in English and in German.
But it seems that the described functionality doesn't work. If I open the layers window and close the active layer (I have only one), the description makes me think that Layer 1 is expanded again as soon as I close and reopen the layers window. This is not the case in MobileSheets 3.9.29 on Win11.

Hmm, I'll have to look into it. I think my main use case scenario for it was changing pages, especially when using the vertical scrolling display mode, but the description would indicate that what you tried should have worked.

@Mike:..."especially when using the vertical scrolling display mode,"

I had this same question - what was the function of this undocumented icon?

I have started using your Vertical Scrolling for Performance, but try to remember to Annotate in Single page. I am still learning Layers.

I was highlighting my part in the choruses of Handel's Messiah. After numerous pages, I realized I was still in Vertical Scrolling. The Layers window showed 3 or 4 pages. It wasn't clear to me which page I was actually trying to edit. When I changed to Single Page view, the Layers window just showed the active page.

However, I am still confused as to how you want this to function. My plan for Layers is to have a Highlight base layer, an Annotations layer above, and a Lyrics later at the top. These will apply to the whole song. Of this is my desire, should I activate this function.

Let's say you have a layer named "Notes". If you have created a layer named "Notes" on every page, and you have enabled the link layers functionality, then if you tap the eye icon to hide the "Notes" layer, it will be hidden on every page automatically. If you deselect the link layers functionality, and you tap the eye icon to hide the layer, it will only be hidden on the current page. The same is true of the active layer. This ensures the active layer is the same on every page if you've created a layer with the same name on every page. It's a setting you'd generally want to leave on.
