By entering %%writefields wW 0 or %%writefields wW 1 in the ABC file, you can switch the display of song lyrics on or off.

If this can be integrated as a switch in the “ABC settings mask,” singers can simply display the lyrics and instrumentalists can hide them (for better readability of the notes).

I still want to write about a few enhancements I want for the MS ABC GUI but never get to it.

But one suggestion would be to have indeed some "buttons" to toggle things like lyrics, grid or something" and maybe provide an option for a custom button where the user can enter the %%command (like the writefield here) and with the button or toggle box the command is inserted or deleted from the ABC file so it's like an toggle/on/off button for it. So it's highly adaptable for some not so common but still useful use cases I could think of a few.

That would be great.
Using ABC in mobilesheets brings so many benefits - I have become a big fan.

There's now a really great ABC Editor called ABCarus which is similar to EasyABC (still in development) but uses abc2svg and not abc2pcm or something else which is great.

Even if EasyABC has still some features I love (like the typing aid) I already consider ABCarus superior (e.g. the library function, the easy toggle to full screen to use it a a viewer).

There is another new ABC project I really like. That's just for sheet viewing (but with transposing) für Android and iPad. Have a look at

(It's not expicitly an ABC project but that's what's the engine behind it). Not much for editing but really good for providing others with (ABC) scores (or even setlists) for viewing and transposing on their Android or iOS device without needing a decidated sheets app oder PDF app.

Both are very nice, aren't they? :-) If I had those a few years ago I wouldn't have pressed Mike so much for ABC integration (though I think him relenting was more due to the development of chordpro ABC features by Johan than me).

On the ABC mailing list even you can ask even very complicated ABC questions and the creator of ABC (Jef Moines) is very active and accomodating to answer all questions regarding his abc2svg.

For "simple questions" I mostly could find an answer for myself by using

I encountered that problem often in my own ABC fakebook sheets. I'm using a temporary second voice with invisible rests where I can place the chords on.

Your example should work with
