Unable to share files in a setlist - Geoff Bacon - 06-21-2026
Trying to create a single pdf which contains all the songs in a setlist which will be emailed.
Displaying the Setlist screen
Long Press on required setlist
Share
Share files
Gmail
(join onto one PDF)
MS assembles the combined pdf
gmail form displayed (it doesn't show an attachment)
Send to recipient - no attachment received
Long Press one of the songs in the setlist and repeat above sequence
This shows the attachment and transfers it.
Select all the songs in the setlist and repeat
No attachment shown or sent in email.
Tablet has 14.1 Gb used of 16 GB so should be enough free space (recipient email limited to 25 MB)
Rebooted tablet, and repeated first sequence with same result.

PS: Experiments indicate that I can't merge more than one file in the "shared" pdf

Geoff, first off, I am no computer expert but what I understand from the little I know is that when you add an attachment to an email it has to be encoded to send it (why and how I have't a clue) and the encoding makes the file size significantly larger. I don't know how you can check what the encoded size of a 14.1GB file is but my (unintelligent) guess is that it could be up to 50% larger.
What I do for files over 9GB is to upload them to a service such as wetransfer.com and that way only a link gets emailed and the receiving person or device can click to download the larger file.

Please try exporting that setlist to a PDF on the device first, and see what the size of the file is. It may be exceeding the maximum file size allowed by gmail. As a workaround, you can also just attach this file to your email through the gmail app.

Exporting, rather than sharing, results in a pdf of 434 KB (Lester, I'm talking KB not GB but thanks for the input)
gmail succesfully transferred the file
So urgency is over; just need to know if share has a problem or whether it is my system system (although it is nothing out of the ordinary)

Can you do a quick test where you select two of the songs in the setlist, then Share->Share Files and deselect the option to join files? I would just like to know if those two files then show up properly in gmail. I'm trying to identify if sharing with gmail is working on your device with multiple files but not with a single (as I do use a different intent depending on that in order to support more potential target apps).

Selecting two files without joining them works (2 attachments showing in the email MS is composing)
Tried again joining the same two files - no attachment
