I have entire albums of songs that are confusing to sort through when sorted alphabetically - I know where in the tack listing they should be, and always get lost looking alphabetically. My current work-around of adding the track number to the track name obviously makes the 'songs' tab pretty useless. I could just use the 'custom' field, but I don't know if that would let me 'sort by', and it feels like such a basic library function that it should be included any way?
Maybe I'm missing something, but if there is a way to do it, it's not obvious (as I'm pretty sure 'song ID' isn't what I want, unless I misread things).

You can just change the sort order for the album to "Manual" and then order them any way you would like. You can flip between alphabetic and manual then based on whether you want it ordered alphabetically or by the track positions.

Thanks, that will work without messing up the 'songs' tab, which is an improvement. It's still more of a pain than just adding track numbers when I import stuff, though - that way I don't have to think beyond adding meta data which I'm already doing as part of the import, so I still think the feature would be useful if possible!
Thanks

Struggeld with to.
I made a Custom field with the track number, then use formated title for sorting.
It save you the work of changing the title.
Hope it helps.
But it would be nice for a custum fielt d to be set to numeric, so you can enter 1,2,3 instead of 001,002,003 for sorting.
