I (think) I've read the relevant bits of the manual for this but I'm coming up short.
Given I have a selected group of annotations; e.g., a guitar chord image composed of a stamped grid, stamped dots for fretted notes, and a fret number indicator on the left
When I want to move it to a distant part of the page
Then I can't move it naturally so I must resort to unintuitive workarounds (excessive nudging or cut-and-paste)
I should be able to select multiple elements (possible), and then drag them to the desired location.
Bonus points for the ability to group multiple annotations into an atomic unit, as available in illustration/diagramming tools. (I don't think MobileSheets supports grouping, outside of layer workarounds.)
Here's what it looks like when attempting to move a composite selection in an intuitive (to me) way: https://youtu.be/MGcKJ3P0ov0tH
Thanks,
Jamie

My goal is to add support for grouping annotations so that they will all be considered a single annotation from the perspective of certain operations like moving, resizing, etc. This will be the approach in the future for moving multiple annotations at once (group them with a toggle, move, then ungroup if deisred). For the time being, the only option is to use the nudge tool.

Hi Mike,
I'm new to digital sheet music and the available apps. MobileSheets seems to be one of the best options available and I'm trying out the Lite version on iPad. The one feature I'm really missing so far is something similar to what Forscore has here (10:05): https://youtu.be/l6dTpq6HJh0?si=TbLuyaWLq_NxqLhz&t=605
So my question is, how far along is this feature your're describing or when do you think it will be available?
I deselected grouping freeform annotations in the settings to be able to select smaller portions of the freeform annotations but it seems there is no easy way of moving them without breaking the selection.
All the best,
Tonis

MobileSheets a lot of different kinds of annotations, and splitting annotations with the selection wouldn't make sense for the vast majority of them (like stamps). So I will certainly allow for moving multiple grouped annotations as once by just dragging and dropping, but I will not allow splitting off part of them with the selection tool. So I want to verify whether you are caring more about the ability to move lots of annotations at once, or if you are also wanting the ability to split up a freeform annotation with the selection tool.
As far as your last comment, with the current feature set, you have to use the nudge tool for that. It's not as nice as dragging and dropping though, so that will certainly be one of the focuses of the 3.10.0 update. As far as the timeline, it will be early next year. I can't be any more specific than that, as I don't know what unexpected things may come up that could derail the schedule. As far as update planning, I have a few smaller updates that need to be released, and then I can focus on the bigger 3.10.0 update.
Thanks,
Mike

Thank you for the reply.
I will try to explain my intent a bit better.
Option 1. When grouping freeform annotations is ON, I end up having a grop of freeform annotations all over the page. Since I cannot cut out a selection (as in the video I posted), I'm unable to move a small portion of it but end up moving the whole group. If this group could be ungrouped and regrouped as needed in the future, this might actually work.
Option 2. When grouping freeform annotations is OFF, I get to select bunch of individual freeform lines but I'm unable to drag them to desired position because it deselects all but one object and moves only that. A handwritten chord A#m consists of 7 separate lines but I would like to move them all at once. Also I'm restriced to rectangular box selection, which might be insufficient in many situations.
Option 3. Freeform grouping OFF, the nudge tool seem very slow compared to drag and move, and copy-paste is inacurate as after pasting I can't drag-move without breaking selection as in option 2. and there is no preview for pasting to position it correctly right away.
For fast and convenient workflow I would prefer having a freehand lasso tool for selecting the annotations and either 1. just cutting all annotations like in the video OR 2. select all objects the lasso touches (or surrounds) and then being able to drag all the selection together to the desired place without losing selection. (copy and paste of the selection would be nice also)

A quick note about the nudge tool: when it is open, you can click on the 1x in the upper right corner and change the speed there.
But I agree with you: selecting multiple annotations and simply moving them by dragging would be very helpful.

Hi Mike,
While you are still working on the object grouping feature, could you still make a small change that a selected group would not break the selection when an object of the selected group is being dragged. This would help me out a lot. I would just leave "Combine freeform annotations" disabled and select the items I would need to drag. To clear selection, one could tap anywhere outside of the selection or an unselected object to select it instead.
A related feature: a lasso selection would be very helpful for both the"select tool" and the "Snipping tool".
Best regards,
Tonis

+1 for the ability to move a selection of multiple items. Would certainly speed up annotating

Some movement of multiple items is already possible:-
1) Select the arrow pointer
2) "draw" a rectangle around the items that need moving as a block (this selects them)
3) Use duplicate icon and paste it in another part of the song and/or use the nudge tool.
Where the items to be selected do not fit in a rectangle, one could select them using the Layers icon
There are probably some things that you can't currently do e.g. easily move between layers (but you could use the duplicate icon and paste).
