This is a cross-post from the GP Community, but thought I’d give it a try here as well. I have Mobile Sheets loading lead sheets with a CC command from GP, but I’m having a hard time triggering page turns using buttons on my MIDI controller through GP. Would be grateful for any coaching as I have a first rehearsal coming 12/29.
Here’s what I shared in the GP forum: WeI’m embarrassed to say I just can’t seem to get this working. I’m missing something - I think in GP. I have lead sheets changing with each first song part in GP, sending CC messages on ch16, so good there.
Turning pages in a MS .pdf - not so good. Here’s what’s working. I have 2 widget buttons in global rack receiving MIDI messages from 2 buttons on my Arturia Keylab. I’ve tried both widgets with no plugin and also pointed at loopBeMIDI out. Green midi light flashes.
Next, in the global rack panel, I’ve strung together a MIDI in block from the Arturia to a rechannelizer shifting ch1 to 16, then to a loopbeMIDI MIDI out block set to ch16 and a midi message sending the CC command (9,2, ch16).
I set up the same cc #s in MS for “next page” under the midi actions menu. In GP wiring, the midi connectors are flashing, but I’m getting green and yellow in the upper rh midi monitor. I feel,like I’m missing something really obvious, but can’t see forest from trees.
Let me ask this - if you bring up the MIDI listen dialog (either on the MIDI tab of the song editor or when setting up a MIDI action), and you trigger the CC command (9, 2, ch16), do you see it received in MobileSheets? That's the first thing I want to identify. Also, under Settings->MIDI Settings, do you have the MIDI receive channel set to either 16 or Any? I just want to confirm this.

I haven’t checked MIDI listen, but can confirm that when I set CC 9,2 ch 16, I can use the CC command from Gig Performer when I load a song there to open the corresponding sheet in Mobile Sheets - so CC messages are definitely making through to MS.
Yes, I have MIDI ch 16 set in MS to both receive and send MIDI messages. I wonder, therefore if I’ve gotten something wrong with the MIDI routing in GP. I’d love to get this working, but I’m starting to think I need to drop back and try to use a dedicated trigger pedal on my Arturia MIDI controller as plan B. I can assign a pedal to ch.16 on the Arturia - that may be a more direct solution. I have a first rehearsal with this new digital rig coming up fast on 12/29.

I just purchased MobileSheets and am unfortunately struggling with things even more basic than what's explained below : I cannot seem to be able to establish a connection via MIDI ports between Gig Performer and MS.
Let me explain my setup :
- Nord Stage 3 is my unique keyboard
- when switching songs on the keyboard, GP simultaneously changes song, so I can have both sounds generated by the Nord and sounds generated by GP instruments
- teaching GP to act on a keyboard knob was a breeze : I had the Nord connected to my Mac, GP saw it, and I used the "learn MIDI" mode from GP ; dead easy
- now I want that the same action from the Nord triggers a page change on MS ; more specifically, my idea is that the Nord triggers it in GP which, in turn, triggers in in MS
I believe what is explained below could help, but :
1- I cannot connect MS and GP (I don't know anything about MIDI, ports etc ...)
2- in my newly installed version of MS, there is no such option/tab/button as "MIDI" in the Settings menu (the one I access by clicking on "Mobile Sheets", next to "File", "Edit" etc ...) ; see screenshot

Maybe you have in the global Mobile Sheets Settings/MIDI Settings "Disable MIDI" enabled?
Thanks BRX. The issue is that the Global Mobile Sheets Settings does not have any MIDI section : it only shows "alternative to pressures", "game pad" and "system", the latter is only about the microphone.
Am running the MAC version, though, not the Windows version. Maybe this is a difference ?

He is referring to the settings inside the app itself. Load MobileSheets, tap the three dots at the top right corner of the library screen, then tap "Settings". Then you'll see the options BRX referred to.

You can see the Disable MIDI setting at the bottom of the screenshot I've provided. This is in the Windows version of MobileSheets (you posted in the Windows subforum, so I'm assuming you have a Windows device). You do have to scroll down through the settings to see it.
Thanks Mike. But ... I am using the MAC version. I posted here because there are only forums for Windows, iOS and Android. Since this is a computer we're talking about, I thought the closest was Windows.
So, in this particular case, my screen looks the same as yours except the options jump from "pitch bend control" to "prevent looping".
The Mac version is actually just the iOS version (Mac devices with M1 or later processors and emulate iOS apps and run them). You are correct that there is no "Disable MIDI" option in the iOS version. However, please go to Settings->MIDI Settings and tap "Configure MIDI Connections". You should then see the input and output ports for your connected device(s). Tap those ports to connect, and then you should be able to send and receive MIDI messages with those devices.
Thank you Mike, this helps. However, clicking on "MIDI input" or "MIDI output" doesn't trigger any reaction. It seems I must click on either Bluetooth or Wifi, but I would very much prefer a solid cable connection (you never know what happens in the wireless world while you're on stage).
You only have to click on those options if you want to connect using bluetooth or WiFi. If you have the device connected over USB, you should see input and output ports show up if that device is supported by Apple's coreMIDI. If it does not show up, then there is a problem with the cable, or an incompatibility.
