Inspired by the TikTok Ring posts on here I looked at what was available and purchased an ArcX ring bluetooth controller.

This thing is a total gamechanger!

Couldn't get it to connect to its app but then realised it doesn't need the app at all as it just accesses through the Pedal inputs in settings in MS

I play bass - it goes on my left index finger. Doesn't affect playing. Easy to change songs and also activate Smart Buttons to trigger Snapshots on my guitar modeller.

The new Version can change the Mode from swiping to Play/pause which works great for me for an incredible low price

The Bluetooth finger ring control appears to me to be "just what the doctor ordered".

Are there any "gotchas" to using these with MobileSheets?  Any special requirements?  Is there a way to know which ones work-- and which ones don't?  Or maybe they all do?  Or maybe only the expensive ones work?  Or maybe none?

Please can someone help me!

I’m really sorry if this is obvious but I have now bought and returned so many rings but just can’t get them to work.

I am using a IPad Air 13” but due to medical issues using my feat is not an option.

It’s worth noting that, if I use a peddle in my hand, it does exactly what I expect! I don’t understand why it is then so hard to get the same output from a handheld device. I play euphonium so need both hands on the instrument 90% of the time hence why I’m looking a finger solution.

I have tried rings with 2, 3 and 5 buttons.

I have tried to activate the active part under accessibility. When I do this. I can see the cursor on the screen and if I press up, the cursor jumps up, if I press down it goes down etc but it doesn’t advance the music.

The best I have got was using a long press for volume up or a long press for volume down. I got excited as it worked for a while but after I then input some annotation or the screen turned off. This stopped!

In short, I’ll pay whatever but am I missing something obvious. Why does any peddle just work but getting a ring to do the same thing not seem to work?

It sounds as though you haven't set the ring up to work with MobileSheets

e.g when displaying the Songs tab,
1: 3 vertical dots (top right)
2: Settings
3: Touch and Pedal Settings
4: Pedal Actions
5: tap an unused Pedal Option e.g. Pedal Switch 4
    Press the desired ring button (I believe this will store the required key in the dialog)
    OK
6: Use drop down to select the required action when this key detected
7: Repeat for any other ring buttons

The problem is most ring accessories do not like act like a bluetooth pedal, which sends key commands like "page down" and "left arrow" when pressed. The rings tend to send gestures or other events that MobileSheets can't respond to. Volume control is one thing that works on Android, but is less reliable on iOS due to the way the volume controls work. The only accessory that comes to mind that works like an HID (like a computer keyboard the way bluetooth pedals do) is a Flic button.
