Collating several abcs into one without a new file?
#1
This is similar to  Snipping tool cut and paste , but addressing abcs: I have several abc files that each display beautifully but taking up at most a half page each in portrait mode. Ideally I would like to see two or three of these on a single page (configurable of course). I understand that there are several ways to do this are intermediate pdf files. It would also be possible to fake the tunes to look like a single abc and thus have MSP render it on a single page, but the most flexible way would be using individual abcs.

The snipping tool apparently does not work here (understandably because I assume that it copies bitmaps, not on-the-fly rendered abcs), but is there another way to "drag and drop" abcs from one song to the other?

Thanks!

You can achieve what you are asking for with the following I believe:

1) Set fixed page sizes for the ABC files so that they render to the size you want (this will let you control the height of the page which is important
2) Switch to the vertical scrolling display mode so that the pages are stacked vertically on the screen

Then you don't have to mess with anything else.

Thanks as usual for the quick reply!

this must be the stupidest question ever asked, but where do I set the fixed page size? I could not find any such setting in the song editor nor in the manual.

thanks again!

edit: I guess I am looking for the dialogs visible in thread  Fixed Page SIze 3.9.7 , contrib#6, but I can not figure out how to bring them up. I am using 3.9.17 on a Boox 103.

Load the song using the ABC file, tap the center to bring up the overlay, tap the A at the top right and then tap "Set Page Size". If this option is missing for you, it's possible it wasn't included with version 3.9.17, in which case it will be available with 3.9.18 which I'm going to do my best to get released next week.

ok, thanks, i found the option, but this does not solve my problem - I can not set the height to less than 300 (if I select less, it'll reset it to 300) which results in the abc still being displayed as single page but the *next* page (tune) being pushed DOWN half a page. so it (the subsequent tune) IS in the relative position I want it to be in but not on the same page as the first.

thanks anyways!

edit: I take that back, it does work as outlined - but only if width and height are not -1! I naively thought that I could leave the width at -1 and only adjust the height, but that leads to fairly unpredictable results. If, however, I first select fit screen and then leave the width at (in my case) 1860 but reduce only the height, everything works as expected. Thanks!

I'm glad to hear that. Perhaps I should display an error if the user leaves one of the values as -1, as I definitely don't support that at the moment. Or I can update the code to support that, but it would require changes in a large number of places, and there's probably other higher priority work to focus on.
