Sychronization Between Devices
#1
I have 2 license of the program one for my PC and one for my android tablet.  I do most of my changes to my songs on my PC and I use my android tablet when I'm out playing. So to get all the changes I made on my PC to my tablet that I take with me, I do a device synchronization on a regular basis using my PC as Server and my tablet as Client:
1.  I do a lot of small changes to songs and add new songs to my library daily so to keep things in sync, I do a sync library almost every other day.  The process is fast so not a major issue but still take time and I have thousands of songs in my library.  Is there any suggestion that you have that can make this process less tedious.
2. Sometime after a library sync, I notice that the song # in my library does not match and I'm not sure what is the possible reasons for this.  I usually just ignore it but obviously there is something not right.  Any suggestion what may have caused this.
3. Could the above be caused by when a song is Deleted and the delete pdf, image, text box is not checked.  What actually is the purpose of leaving the song file if Mobile Sheet is set to manage your song library and is there a setting that will set it to delete the pdf, image, text file as default eliminating the mistake of forgetting to check the box during a song deletion.
4. Occasionally, I may make some changes to a song on my tablet while I'm out playing.  Is there anything you can suggest that I can do that can help me keep these changes.  I can't do a reverse sync ie. from my tablet back to my PC as I most likely have made other changes on my PC since the last sync and its hard for me to remember what I may have changed on the tablet and replicate that back on my PC when I'm back home.
5. Since some of the setting in the PC version is different than that on the android version, I'm hesitant to use a backup from my PC to restore to my tablet as I don't want to mess up my settings that I have on my tablet due to these subtle discrepancy.  Any suggestions on alternatives that I can do if I ever need to do a complete copy of my PC library to my tablet
6. Is there a way to sync changes such as Additional Filters from a PC version of the program to the Android version of the program as a Library Sync does not seem to sync the Additional Filters created.

Hello,

1) I can't really think of anything if you want to keep both devices in sync all the time. One option would be to break your library up into smaller libraries that each can synchronize faster. I will add an automatic sync feature in the future once I have time.
2) That one I can't really explain without having copies of your library from both devices. It might depend on what sync settings you've selected. A library backup/restore would probably help sync them up.
3) That should haven't any impact. I let users choose if they don't want their files deleted. There are scenarios where this might make sense, such as deleting a song, and recreating it by reimporting the file from the storage location. I can't guess what the right answer is in every scenario, so I leave it up to the user. I will add an option in the future to delete orphaned files in the storage location though.
4) You can export to .msf and import that .msf on the primary device. That will carry over changes to just the songs you export into the .msf file.
5) You can restore a backup file and uncheck the option to restore settings. So you can keep your tablet settings while still restoring a backup file.
6) You'd have to export the settings from the PC and import those in the Android version, which I very much doubt you want to do based on what you said in #5. So the only other answer is to copy user_filters.xml from C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Packages\41730Zubersoft.MobileSheets_ys1c8ct2g6ypr\LocalState on your PC to the storage location on your tablet and replace the existing file.

Hi - I'll chime in to #3 - why keep the file when you are deleting the song?

I have a lot of pdfs of vocal/piano accomp songs. I am gradually transferring many of these to abc notation, with just the melody line, lyrics and chords. When I get one finished, I delete the pdf version of the song in MS (the "song container"), to eliminate clutter in MS, but I like to keep the pdf, so I can access it outside of MobileSheets, through a files app and pdf reader. I prefer to play by the chords, but I also like to sometimes check out the piano part, remember how the intro was done, or check it if I think I made mistake in the abc code.

It works for me to keep the pdf in place in the same folder. I have the setting on to put each song in a separate folder, and I've found that it doesn't cause a problem if there are extra files in the folder that MS is not using.

This may not work for everyone. It may depend on your platform and how you have your storage settings. This works for me on android and ipad. On android, I unchecked Let MS manage... Set my storage folder and expose database, then turned back on Let MS manage files. The important thing is to create your MobileSheets folder in internal storage under Documents, or one of the other main folders, because these can be accessed by files apps. If the MS folder is not in one of these, the file manager apps  will not be able to see the files inside the MS folder. On ipad, those choices don't exist. (Just "create folder for each") But it works great to access the pdfs through ipad's built-in files app, and view it with "quick look" option.
