Hi, I have a large selection of sheet music saved as JPG MobileSheets files saved on my iPad, each sheet can take up over a mega byte, compared with music sheets saved as pdf files. My question is can those stored JPG files somehow be converted to pdf to save memory? If I select files and edit, it gives the option to delete the file, what I want to do is copy it and then convert it to PDF and then save it to re import it, then delete the original JPG file. Has anyone either successfully carried out this task or know how to go about it. Regards Dupe

Normally saving JPG files as PDFs simply wraps the image in a blank PDF page but it is still a raster image, and being JPG, the smaller the file size the more lossy the image which, in the case of text and music, will not be helpful.

Look for raster to vector conversion apps; there are a few around, possibly also some web sites that might offer conversion on uploaded files.

For iPad there also there are countless image to PDF converters. Often there are free lifetime promos, for instance today

I don't vouch for this particular app and if and how it compresses the PDF, but I wanted to mention the option to convert on the iPad and that this app is free right now.

Please note that, in MobileSheets, you can tap the three dots next to a file in the song editor and if it's not a PDF, there is an option to convert it to PDF. Additionally, if you tap the image correction option, you can apply a grayscale filter which will dramatically reduce the file size. This permanently modifies the file though.

@MIKE, Thanks for your prompt reply, I have converted all of my files, took a few hours but worth it. MobileSheets is a brilliant music app which is linked with my Yamaha Genos to select my music styles and also used as a page turner. Very pleased. Regards Dupe
