From the beginning several years ago, I have independently maintained and backed up on 2 separate computers my MobileSheets database. Essentially, I would start a new addition/correction on my main PC and then, when it was clear, everything was good, I'd MANUALLY make the same addition/correction on my SurfacePro7, which is what I use for performance.

I know there are minor differences between the 2, but have long forgotten how they arose and what they are. I suppose I could simply restore my SurfacePro7 version on my new Win11 PC (would that make them equal?) if the relevant storage directories are the same. But I'd rather KNOW what the differences are (just in case I might have done something RIGHT on the PC and got interrupted and forgot to make those corrections on the SurfacePro7. I've read a little about the SYNC features, but it sounds as if that doesn't have an interim step of "DON'T CHANGE EITHER DATABASE--JUST SHOW ME THE DIFFERENCES." How can I simply VIEW what's different between the two?

Yes, restoring a backup file from one device on the other would create an exact copy of your library. I would recommend just creating a backup file on each device, then sync to see what is different, and restore the backup file after if needed.

My problem is that I don't know if I would see anything to tell me what was different between the 2. If I KNEW to a moral certainty that one was in better condition than the other, it would be an easy decision.

Kevin, maybe it requires you to think of one computer's NS database as your master and the other's as the copy. That will keep you focussed on making sure that one is always correct and the otehr just follows on.

First, of course, you need to get past your current issue which wounds ike you need to have both copies open, side by side, and manually check them against each other.

Thanks, Lester, but I was doing the opposite: adding stuff to the "copy" just to make sure it transferred correctly, THEN adding it to my "master" when I was sure everything was OK. With over 3,500 songs already transferred, it's going to take more time than I have to find the differences without electronic assistance!

I'm not quite sure what sort of log a synch operations generates (or where) but you could try using MS to back up the libraries on both devices and then perform a sync operation (probably one way)

Then look at the log to see what it says it has done.
Finally restore both backups to put it back into the current state.

Once you have sorted it out, get into the habit of treating one device as the master
