Hello Mike,
I don't know if this has been discussed before.
I'm wishing to make some medleys of songs.
I would really find it helpful to be able to group multiple songs into blocks, so that I can easily move them within a main setlist.
Additionally, it would be great to have the ability to insert a button within a song to call up another song, making navigation even smoother.
Do you think it would be possible?
Thank you for considering this!
Best regards, Marco.

The latter is already possible. Just make a smart button with the action go to/load song.

What you are asking for is essentially groups within groups which is something I've said I don't really want to support. I may support groups of setlists and groups of collections as two new tabs, but that would be the limit of what I want to support. Having groups within groups is problematic as it requires support for infinite depth with any of the user interfaces (like a file system) which is inherently slow to use if too many layers are utilized. So I think what you are specifically asking for is not something I plan to support.

Or, maybe, he just wants to move multiple (selected) songs in a setlist at once which isn't possible so far AFAIK and would be a nice (albeit not too important) improvement of the setlist editor which isn't "groups within groups".

When we select multiple songs we can add them all to a setlist or a collection.
When we add a placeholder there is a position locator.
Would it be possible (and would it be what the OP is requesting) to be able to reposition multiple selected songs withing the setlist or collection they are currently in, assuming that manual sort is selected or could be automatically applied from such a move?

I didn't knew it were possible. I'll try as soon as possible, because in this case it would be great for my purpose... Thanks alot!

I certainly understand that you cannot have infinite group levels, but another way to move blocks of songs at once could be a multiple selection mode from the setlist editor, instead of having to move every single song from one position to another.

BTW Marco, a tip for medleys that has often come up: You can make a song called Medley "X" or something and add multiple songs for the medley in the files tab. It's not so convenient as having them as single songs but they show up only as a single song/medley in the setlist so you have only to move one song or add one medley to the setlist.

None of the UI frameworks on any of the supported platforms make it easy to support drag & drop with multiple entries at once. However, with enough work, I could certainly support multiple selection with an option to insert all selected entries at a specific position in the setlist. A more unusual option would be to add support for selecting multiple entries, and then if a single entry is dragged to a certain position, all selected entries would be moved to that position as well (after the dragged entry).

Any of these options would be very useful for me.
In regard to the suggestion by BRX, I have to say that often we don't have fixed medleys, but instead we group songs depending on the upcoming event. What it would be really useful is being able to select multiple items in a setlist and move them together to another position.
I think the options suggested by Mike would be really great.
