ChordPro: Reset Pan and Zoom doesn't work
#1
I accidentally pinch zoomed a ChordPro file and noticed that I cannot reset the zoom.
Neither Zoom/Pan Settings - Reset Pan and Zoom nor the two finger tap action that I configured for Reset Pan and Zoom work.
Enabling "Reset pan and zoom on load" and re-opening the song also didn't help.
After tapping Reset Pan and Zoom a message "Pan and zoom successfully set to defaults" pops up, but nothing is changed.
This is the case for MobileSheets 3.9.33 on all my devices, Android, eink and Win11.
It's only an issue with ChordPro files, it works as expected for PDFs.

It's really annoying as all my ChordPro songs are optimized to use screen space as good as possible with page turns at good positions. The only way so far to kind of go back is pinch zooming again, it's very difficult to find the original, intended size again.

Is a feasible workaround available? I have an important gig shortly.

The options "Change Font Size" / "Change Page Size" / "Disabled" for Text and ChordPro File Zoom Mode work as expected. This zoom mode was set to "Change Font Size", probably the default. So changed font sizes are reflected in Text Display Settings / Advanced Settings and I could lookup sophisticated settings in a backup file.
Can I change "Text and ChordPro File Zoom Mode" for ALL ChordPro files in my database easily?

"Enable pinch zoom gesture" is enabled. Are there other possibilites to apply zoom? Can I configure pinch zoom to be only active in the annotations editor?

Open your song, tap to bring up the overlay, tap the second icon at the bottom left, tap "Zoom/Pan Settings" and change the "Text and ChordPro File Zoom Mode" to "Change Page Size". Then it will zoom like a PDF and not mess with your text display settings. This is a global setting - you do not have to change it per song.

Thanks for your answer.
Good to know that the "Text and ChordPro File Zoom Mode" is a global setting.
It's a bit confusing. From a usabilty point of view I'd expect global settings in "Settings" and song specific settings to be accessed via overlay. There are more cases like this in MobileSheets, but that's how it is and is another topic.
Alas changing the zoom mode only helps for the future, currently my optimized font sizes are already lost.
Nevertheless I'd expect "Reset Pan and Zoom" to do what the name implies.

The devils in the details, but if zooming in a text file is just changing the text display settings, there is nothing to reset because it's not being zoomed - it's just changing the text display settings. I get that the relationship between all these settings can be confusing though.

Thanks for your help. I learned and understood a number of things to improve my customs and workflow.

Unexpected changes to my thoroughly optimized font sizes that I sometimes noticed and could not reproduce and explain by now were probably caused by accidentally pinch zooming. I can avoid that by setting text file zoom mode to "Disabled" or "Change Page Size".
When  text file zoom mode is set to "Change Page Size", "Reset Pan and Zoom" works as expected with the configured touch action. The button on the Zoom/Pan Settings screen needs two clicks on the Boox Tab. This is a known issue of this device that we already discussed somewhere else.
The different behaviour for zooming on the annotations screen that I proposed already exists: even if  text file zoom mode is set to "Change Page Size" or "Disabled" I can nevertheless pinch zoom on the annotations screen. It acts like  "Change Page Size" very useful.

So the only topic that is left is that sorting the various actions on the Zoom/Pan screen might be worth re-thinking. There are features for PDFs and features for text files, global features and song specific features. Maybe a redesign is less effort than explaining the behaviour to all users.

When I add searching support on the main settings screen, I may consider moving more settings there.

With "searching support on the main settings screen" you mean the possibility that a user can search for a specific setting, right? Great, that's a really helpful feature. The settings are actually very crowded. No wonder with those amazing number of features that are provided by MobileSheets.

Maybe it's a good idea to combine that with a reorganization of the settings. I can pinpoint some more settings that would imho be better located in the main settings.
