Scores Not Appearing After Setup via iCloud
#1
Exclamation
Help!  Dismayed (and distressed - I have a performance tomorrow!) to find none of my saved music scores are appearing in the app after setting up my new iPad Air tablet via iCloud Backup.

Any advice?

Thank you.

Hello Ria,

Does that mean that none of your songs/pieces are showing up on the songs/pieces tab? Or just that they won't load properly? When it comes to moving your library, it's best to follow one of the approaches outlined in this video https://youtu.be/SPLhDxxBstg, namely:

1) Using a library backup file
2) Using the library synchronization feature (but then settings have to be synchronized by exporting and importing settings under Settings->Backup and Restore).

So let me ask, when you said you performed an iCloud Backup, does that mean you saved a backup file to iCloud? Or used the library synchronization feature to synchronize with a cloud folder and selected iCloud? Or are you using something outside of MobileSheets?

This might not be related to the reported problem but ...

Check the state of "Settings| Storage| Let MobileSheets Manage My Files" (Most users probably want this checked - unless they really know what they are doing)

My friend has just had several "missing files" because at some point this was unchecked meaning that recently imported files remained in the Downloads folder.
These became "missing" when she cleaned this folder up. She has spent many hours trying to discover what has happened and still hasn't restored all the missing files.

@Mike: Any chance of modifying the code so that the user is advised of the consequences of changing this setting? I would think it highly unlikely that the user would want some files managed by MS and others not.

Hi Mike,

Thanks so much for your reply.

I believe I’ve made a new user error, for which I take full responsibility: I neglected to create and save a Backup File for Mobile Sheets, so when I set up my new replacement iPad from the Apple iCloud Backup I created before resetting my previous tablet, all my Pieces —saved only in the app— were gone.

Hard lesson learned.  Undecided

lifework, I am sorry to read of your predicament, it has probably happened to all of us at some point.

There is an old computer joke with more than a hint of truth in it, saying there are two types of people: those that do backups and those that have yet to lose data.

I'm really sorry to hear that Ria. I did add a backup reminder a while back in MobileSheets that should trigger every 14 days, but I'm sorry if this happened before the 14-day mark.

Geoff - that setting doesn't exist in the iOS version, as users can't really manage their own files on iOS due to the way Apple handles file permissions.
