Issue exporting song list
#1
On setlist view, long pressing a set list, then choosing “Share”->”Share List of Song Titles” and choosing “Message” as the vehicle, the text that is created frequently contains random starting numbers for the songs.

While I can’t prove this, viewing a setlist, and then trying to export a song list for a different set list without actually ever viewing that different setlist (just a long pressing on the index) seems to start the count at the first song # after the last viewed setlist.

Nevertheless, I can generally fix this by opening the target setlist first, and then going back and exporting the song list, I wanted to share this experience.

RobNY, you have caught my attention because I am on an iPad and for the last 2 years I have been doing exactly the procedure you mention, sharing via AirDrop, and I have never had any numbers added by MS to my shared list of song titles.

I have just tried different setlists, even selecting multiple setlists, transferred by AirDrop or email, and I am unable to get any numbers added. I am curious as I cannot reproduce the problem.

To be clear, I am exporting LIST OF SONG TITLES (not the songs/charts themselves).   Airdrop, Message, or even copy text, all have numbers.  Here’s a typical list.  My issue is that sometimes, the list will start with some other random number instead of 1, and count up from there.

RobNY, no, I did not misunderstand you, I do the same procedure every week and here is Sunday's list:

Chválospevy 18.1. Dan

Jediné miesto (noty)
Ani oko nevidelo (m004) (noty)
El šaddai (č17) (El Shaddai) (nehotová)
Hevenu shalom (noty)
Je dokonáno (m047) (cz) (noty)
Ježiš je práve tu (m054) (noty)
Ak túžiš od hriechu (Je tu moc) (h118) (power in the blood) (noty)

Sorry they are all in Slovak, not English, but I never get any numbers. I was using a 2017 5th generation iPad and for the last week have been using a new iPad Air. Both iPads have been using MS v3.9.34 and many previous versions.

I wonder whether one of us has some altered settings. I don't remember turning off numbering but I will go and search the settings to see. The MS manual (pages 35-36) doesn't have anything that I can see.

Calling other MS users: when you share a list of song titles do you get numbers? If so, are the numbers always correct?

I always think it helps Mike if we can repeat problems and explain what we do to repeat them but here we have something different between users - numbering or no numbering - which is different from your original issue of random starting numbers.

To export the index (the number at the start), you have to go to Settings->Library Settings->Generate Song List Format, and add %INDEX% at the start of the format string. I will have to see if I can reproduce the issue you are describing.

I'm unable to reproduce any issues so I need to know what your format string is set to.

Thanks,

Sorry for the delay.  My Song list format should be the default as I don't recall changing it.   Currently set to:   %INDEX% - %TITLE% (%ARTISTS%)

In other news (and I can open a new thread if needed), I cannot export song lists of Collections at all.  Steps to reproduce:

1.  Select COLLECTIONS from top NAV (all search and filter fields are empty)
2.  Choose the collection
3. Long press one song
4. "Check All" using tool at bottom right
5. Chose "Share" from the blue menu, top right to the left of the three dots.
6. "Share List of Song Titles"

When I do this, it simply returns to the collection song screen with all values unchecked.

HOWEVER, if I long press FROM THE COLLECTION LIST SCREEN, I can navigate to a slightly more buried "share" option and it seems to work (allowing me to export the entire collection song list).

BUT, I can't pick a bunch of songs from within a collection and email that song list at this time.

RobNY,

Based on your 6 steps:

1. Select Collections as in your step 1.
2. Long press one collection. Do not open the collection and select one or all songs. Select the collectoon from the list of collections.
3. N/A
4. N/A
5. Select from the share menu either of the two options.
6. Select 'Share list of song titles', as you did.

That should do what you want.

Rob - that is correct, you can't select individual songs and then export with the index, as the code treats those selected songs as individual objects not tied to the parent in the context of the generate song list feature (it's handled this way so the same code can be used regardless of which tab the songs are selected on, meaning songs, recent, one of the group tabs, etc). So you can't really do what you are trying to do - you have to export the entire list if you want the numbers printed with the titles.
