I swap between tablet mode and laptop mode on a Chromebook, and when in laptop mode, I constantly find myself having to use the touch screen to activate the piece menu (i.e. long press when in Library view). A right click menu or long press imitation on right click would be helpful. How does this work on the desktop version?

On a PC, right-clicking triggers the same thing as a long press, because Microsoft made it easy for those both to do the same thing. Google did not do the same thing with most of their components (like the list components on the library screen), because it was designed for tablets first where there isn't a concept of right-clicking, just long pressing. I don't think it's easy for me to add what you are asking for.
