Missing Files chronic problem
#1
This problem keeps happening, and I have fixed it twice with the help of ChatGPT....but it doesn't stay fixed, and it's terribly worrisome if this happens in a performance.

I run MobileSheets on a Surace Pro 7, Windows 11.
I keep my files on a large capacity SD card in my Surface Pro. (D:\)
I also back up my library fairly regularly.

When opening a song, I often get "Unable to load page 1 for file D:\mobilesheets\mobilesheets\TUNETITLE.pdf."

When I run "Find missing files", I get a list of 246 missing songs!!!
When I run "Fix broken file paths", it says, "0 files fixed".

Tell me there is a way to "BATCH FIX" these. (I know how to do it individually)
Better yet, tell me there is a way to PREVENT this from continually happening.

Fix broken file paths only works if MobileSheets can locate the files that are missing. The fact that it stated that 0 files were fixed means it couldn't find any of the missing files. If the "Find Missing Files" utility points to 246 songs missing files, it means there are files being referenced that don't exist. In your example, you listed D:\mobilesheets\mobilesheets\TUNETITLE.pdf. If you try to go to D:\mobilesheets\mobilesheets using Windows file explorer, do you see TUNETITLE.pdf listed there?

Yes, Mike, in Windows I can find the missing PDF's exactly where they should be. Just the path keeps getting broken.

I don't know what you mean by the path being broken. If MobileSheets is referencing a file path that exists, but it can't load the file, then something is very wrong there. If you are saying the file path listed in MobileSheets is incorrect, then we need to get to the bottom of that. What storage location did you select under Settings->Storage->Set the MobileSheets Storage Location?

Thanks,
Mike

My current setting for storage is D:\
That is a large capacity SD card.

Example:
I have verified that "SONGTITLE" pdf is in my SD card, D:\
But when I try to open it through MobileSheets, it says, "Unable to load page 1 for file D:\MobileSheets\MobileSheets\SONGTITLE.pdf

If I were to edit that song, Edit/Files/ delete the current path by clicking "X", then click + to add a new path....and navigate to drive D:\ , find the pdf, click it, and save, then it re-establishes the pathway or connection.

Would be GREAT to find the problem so it doesn't happen again.

You said SONGTITLE.pdf is at the root of your D: drive. That's obviously incorrect for what MobileSheets needs - it would have to be under the path you listed, D:\MobileSheets\MobileSheets\SONGTITLE.pdf. So that's the source of the problem. We need to determine how the files under D:\MobileSheets\MobileSheets are being deleted, moved or otherwise changed. Is there something else that is affecting the storage location? Are you doing something like synchronizing that folder to OneDrive/Dropbox/Google Drive which can cause access issues?
