It turns out the auto-sizing issues with the comments is due to a parsing error when shape="" is used. I have a fix in place for that now. I should mention that the grid chords and comments are sized independently to make them fit into the grid shape that has been specified, so if 1+4x4+1 is used, the comments are shrunk down to fix in their cells.

I can confirm that. If {start_of_grid 1+4x4+1} is used, grid comments get small enough to fit into the margins. With {start_of_grid shape="1+4x4+1"} grid comments use the same font size as grid chords. No wonder, shape= syntax is pretty new in ChordPro. The behaviour should be the same, grid comments shall be shrunk to fit into the margins.
Changing Eddie's example from {start_of_grid shape="1+4x4+1"} to  {start_of_grid 4+4x4+2} I noticed that in this case the size calculation is not fully correct

Appears to possibly be a font measurement issue with the font you've selected. With the default, I don't see overlap. I'm beholden to what the Skia library hands back to me with the measurements, so if it gives me slightly inaccurate measurements, there's not much I can do about that.

Not a big thing. Auto Size Font is normally just my starting point before fine-tuning the font sizes manually - but it's really helpful if it works good.
Font metrics seemed to be an issue on the Boox Tab every now and then.
If it's helpful: grid chord font is Jazz, grid comment font is default italic

With my latest changes, the file works perfectly fine on Windows. You may need to wait for the next update if you are seeing issues.

Oh, goody!. I can wait for the Windows update. I've gotten pretty fast at typing songs into my PC, checking syntax with something like ABC edit with abc2svg online, and using Sync Libraries to confirm on Android. Having it work on Windows will eventually save me a few steps, but it's not stopping my work.

@itsme, yes, I've revised my workflow on PC to compose the abc stuff in that online editor so I can see the errors now for 100% of my work, then copy pasting into MobileSheets. 

I hadn't made that leap when I submitted the example. I was merely spot checking my work maybe 80% of the time, not 100% checking it.

Jef Moine's online editor opens ChordPro files (in fact it doesn't care about file extensions at all) and shows the ABC snippets they contain just like multiple songs in a single ABC file. Knowing that might avoid the one or the other copy/past action.

   I wanted to report on this thread that v3.9.38 in Windows has eliminated the problem I originally reported when I opened this thread. Many thanks to Mike for having me test various test installations on my PC that allowed him to find the source of the problem. He is pretty tenacious, and pretty fast, and his efforts paid off!
