Annotations darker in view mode, lighter in edit mode
#1
Question
Hello! When I opened Mobile Sheets yesterday to edit my music, I noticed that the view was different when I was in view mode than when I was in edit mode. Edit mode looks like what I expect, but view mode has a few differences that are not ideal.

View mode
  • Highlights are darker; looks like there’s maybe two highlight layers?
  • All annotations are darker (looks like maybe they’re duplicated?
  • The layers I’ve screened back to de-emphasize them seem to be showing up under one highlight layer but above another?)

Edit mode
This is how I expect my music to look.
  • Lighter highlights
  • Lighter annotations
  • Screened back layers are not sitting over highlight layers.

Do I have a setting wrong? Any idea why it seems like my annotation and highlight layers appear to be duplicated?

This is happening across every piece of music in my library.

I’m on iPad Pro 11”, 4th generation, running iOS 26.3.1 (a)

Another user reported this as well, so I'm going to investigate it. Generally if you have "Draw highlights behind content" enabled, you shouldn't get any duplication, but I'm guessing you either may have that turned off or you are not using the highlighter tool to draw those.

I've located the cause of the problem. I'll see if I can get version 3.9.36 out quickly to resolve this.

Thanks,

I’m using the highlighter, but I can’t remember where to find the “draw behind content” switch. What section of settings is it under?

Tap the three dots at the top right corner of the annotations editor, then "Settings". It's on that dialog.

Ahhhh, I had to be in edit mode. Got it, thx! Will be crossing my fingers for that bug fix soon! I’ve got choir on Wednesday and this definitely makes it harder to parse my music.
