I know this touches on the "song versioning" feature that TMK is still in the works, but it seems to me that the ability to add annotations at either the song level or the setlist level might be achievable apart from the versioning feature, using the same mechanism that currently allows song- or setlist-level notes. This might also be a way to address feature requests for graphics capability in the notes themselves.

I frequently use annotations to mark "one-off" performance notes, e.g. showing that we're only singing verses 1 and 4, or which solo instrument is playing a particular intro/turnaround. It's typically not stuff that I care to retain as a "permanent" version of the song; it would just clutter the library.

So I envision using setlist-level annotations most of the time, and song-level annotations for the occasional things that I want to make permanent.
