Ipad problem with files access of abc and chprodpro files
#1
I'm on ipados 26 3.1 - I'm not sure when I did the latest update (for the 3.1), but I've just discovered a problem. I'm wondering if the ipad upate changed something. From googling, it seems there is no way to know the date one has installed updates in ios.

This seems to be affecting some abc and chordpro files, but not all. (I have not found any pdf or image files so far that wouldn't load.)

I have not ever made any changes to file permissions.

When I try to open one of these affected files, I get a message (see screenshot):
"File /privateHello Again/Hello-Again.abc does not exist." Notice the word "private" was mysteriously prepended to the file folder name.

The file is still there. If I open the song editor to the files tab, delete the file, tap local file, and then ADD THE SAME FILE it loads and opens again with as if nothing was ever wrong.

I didn't change the folder name. In the Files app, the folder and filename still look exactly the same.

Because this is seemingly random, I did not discover it until today. In looking at several of the files that are affected, they all have a "Date Modified" of March 11 in the Files app.

I usually make changes to the ipad, then do a one-way sync to the android. I've been doing this off and on over the past month. Not sure what I did, but recently I tried some different sync settings, and then on Apr 21 I made backups of both devices.

Now that I have discovered this issue, I checked the same songs on the android and wouldn't you know, the files have been deleted (I assume because of the two-way sync I tried, preferring the changes on the ipad, not knowing some files had been mysteriously marked "private" and disappeared from MS, although they are still in Files, and the Song containers still exists in MS).

On the android, the folder remains (I have "expose database" checked and my MS folder is under Documents so I can look at them in a file browser.) but the folders are empty. Those files were deleted from their folders.

I have an MS backup for the android from March 6, before that Mar 11 date that shows "modified" on the ipad. So I restored the backup on the android. At east I've recovered missing files there. Unfortunately, I did not do an ipad backup in March.

There's no way to know how many changes I will have lost, but I did use the share setlist titles feature (to text documents) first, so at least I can recreate my recent setlists.

I backed up both devices on 4/21, but the most recent ipad backup before 3/11 was in Feb. I don't really want to use the android backup on the ipad because lots of text settings are unique to each device. I'm afraid that would get wiped out, or can I choose to leave out settings?

I have no way of knowing how many files have been changed to private without opening every single song and I've no time for that.

Right now with this problem and the still-existing issue with the current MS version crashing on lots of abc files, I can't really use the ipad right now.

I have kept the android on 3.9.37 until the crashing abc problem is resolved.

Mike, I just sent an msb from my ipad to your email to see if you can figure anything out.
I already deleted and added back Hello Again, so it now loads.

Look at the following files to start with:

Hello Dolly (abc)
Hello Young Lovers (abc)
His Name I Wonderful (chordpro)
Hey Look Me Over (abc)

All 4 produce the "File not found" message with private in front of the folder name in MS.
(Although in the Files app, Folder names remain the same as always.)

The other issue:
All I Ask of you and Hot Diggity are two abc files that immediately shut down the program.

Thanks
