Sudden disconnect with Gig Performer
#1
I’ve been using Mobile Sheets with Gig Performer for more than a year (win 11). I have more than 80 songs loaded and GP has pulled up MS lyric sheets perfectly. Two weeks ago, I had a gig where the two were no longer communicating. GP was advancing through sets as always, but it seemed MS no longer saw the midi changes coming from GP. I limped through the show.

Today, I got my rig set up and…same problem. I rolled back to previous GP set/gig file (where it had all worked perfectly) and the same issue. MS didn’t budge. I rolled MS to last backup and still no song changes. I haven’t upgraded OS versions of either GP or MS. I’m stumped.

I’m clearly missing something obvious - how should I go about troubleshooting this?

I found another thread here about a win11 update severing midi. Should I be chasing that? I keep my rig’s PC off the internet, but do recall an update a while back while I had it online to sync with Roland Cloud.

Please see this post: https://www.zubersoft.com/mobilesheets/f...l#pid62445

That's what is affecting most users on Windows that suddenly encounter connection problems. Let me know if that doesn't not address the issue for you.

Thank you! It did not. MS still not responding.

Can you provide details on how you are connecting GigPerformer and MobileSheets together? To do that, I needed to set up loopMIDI and use a virtual port to link the two. You did not mention this, so I'd like to know how you are currently doing it.

Thanks,
Mike

I am using loop midi. I made sure the connections were on in MS. I also have done the windows midi change suggested. Really stumped here - it’s worked perfectly for more than a year. I’ve not intentionally changed any settings inside GP or MS. This came out of nowhere, which is why I’m struggling to walk it back and solve it.

Issue continues. I’ve made sure loop b midi is on/active, checked midi routing in gig performer, made sure channels are correct, ensured in ms that midi was connected to loop b. Short of going back to setup instructions, I’ve hit a wall. Gotta be something simple to have just stopped like this, but I can’t seem to find it.

Please try backing up your application settings under Settings->Backup and Restore->Export Settings, then go to Settings->Other Settings->Reset Settings to Default. Then try to connect to GigPerformer and let me know if that fixes anything related to the MIDI communication.

"I keep my rig’s PC off the internet, but do recall an update a while back while I had it online to sync with Roland Cloud."  - #IF# that update was the one that caused the MIDI problem I believe it also caused some virtual midi programs like loop midi etc to stop working,  my personal feeling is that as you have not found a soloution to the problem up till now, I would connect to the internet again and get windows upto the latest updates ( which has got MIDI back working reasonably ) and see if that cures your problem - best of luck :-)

Thanks Mike @zubersoft Unfortunately, reset you suggested didn’t get me working. @Telstar, a connect to the internet and updates also didn’t get me working again. This is nuts. I have to be missing something in plain sight because this has worked flawlessly for more than a year and many uses.

So I don't know how to address a problem like this other than being very methodical:

1) Please go to Settings->MIDI Settings->Configure MIDI Connections, and please verify that you have the input and output ports checked for loopMIDI. I know you said you did this, so I'm just being thorough.
2) Please go to the library screen, tap "New" on the Songs tab, go to the MIDI tab, tap the MIDI listen dialog icon (the last icon on the right side of the list), then send a message from GigPerformer. I want to know if anything shows up. If nothing shows up, then there is no communication at all (versus messages not being processed correctly).
3) Please use another test application or a MIDI device to connect to MobileSheets and verify that you can receive messages as described above with #2. One way of doing this is using a test application like sendmidi where you can specify which MIDI port to send to and what message to send. I can provide more instructions for this if it will be helpful

So we are trying to determine two things here:

1) Is MobileSheets receiving MIDI from GigPerformer at all?
2) Is MobileSheets receiving MIDI from other applications or devices?

Once we know that, then we try to attack the problem from the right angle.
