can't create a setlist
#1
Hi - I've just installed the trial version, imported 8 songs ok (pdf charts) from which I want to create a set list. But after selecting 'set list', nothing happens when I tap '+ new'?

Update: after ~18 taps I'm now told I've reached my trial version limit of 8 *songs. Weird that a set list would count in that quota! so I deleted a song and now I *can create a set list!

Is that song/set list limitation working as it should?

I think it is, after all, it is the trial version.

Many of us have hundreds of songs and some have thousands - I think 20,000 is the largest number I have read about in a forum post - so once you have evaluated the trial version you will find the full capabilities will open up to you once you pay for MobileSheets.

Just a guess: there's a setting "Library Settings - Always Load Whole Setlist". If this is ON, loading a setlist converts the setlist to a single virtual song - this could be one more than the 8 songs permitted by the trial version.
If you really want to continue testing with the trial version try switching "Always Load Whole Setlist" to OFF or delete one song.

Anyway I agree with Lester: the trial version is in fact just for getting a first impression, 8 songs is not enough for practical use. MobileSheets is not expensive, buying the full version won't ruin you and I'm sure you'll be convinced and become another satisfied user.

Thank you both. I'll look into that setting. But I gotta say that the trial version is touted as being fully functional, apart from the 8 song limit. I'm following along with the manual *for the trial version* and to be unable to create a setlist, a core function, does not give a favourable impression. But it's so incongrous that I figure there's something I'm missing! ? I shall persevere and report back.

Update: I saw there was an update to the trial version in the Playstore, so I ran that and now all is well!
Yay!

I'm glad to hear that got you past the problem, although the update did not really address any issues with creating new setlists, so I'm wondering if just restarting the app is all that was required.

Yes it might simply have been a relaunch of the app. There could have been some glich in the initial launch that led to the problem I encountered. Another weird behaviour that I didn't mention was pdf's not displaying when a song was opened...  just a blank screen. That also resolved after the relaunch. And I made enough progress today to convince me to buy the full version!  Shy

MobileSheets works in such a way that I still have not completely got my head round it: when you create a song, it is a database entry and to it can be attached one or more PDFs and maybe other file types. I have never come across this as I always import a PDF and use that to create a new song.

In the situation you describe (that which I quoted) it could be that the glitch which you solved could possibly have been solved within the app. Click on the 3 dots menu, top right > Settings > Other Settings > Fix Broken File Paths. There is no point doing that now but it is worth becoming acquainted with quite how capable the app is, both in song management terms and also in helping sort out quirks should they happen.

Thanks Lester. Good to know! The capability of the app is indeed deep & wide!
