I'd like to propose a multi-purpose line tool for annotations. I picture it working something like this:
This could be used for a variety of things, for example:
Simple lines
For visual dividers etc.
Arrows
Add options with arrow heads at the end point, the start point and both. Could be used to mark when to transition to another stave.
Ties and slurs
Two variants: Upper and lower bow. The otherwise they behave like a normal line as described above. The editing tool would also allow to grab the middle in order to curve the bow more or less aggressively.
Dotted variants of the above
For when these are conditional or suggested.
My primary motivator for wanting this feature are the ties. I use MobileSheets for choral singing, and one thing that comes up extremely often there is when to breathe and not to breathe. For the former, there's a stamp - but for the latter, I would like to be able to draw a tie or slur on my sheet music. Also, the arrows would be extremely useful for when I might have to switch to a different voice.
I know I can just use the pen tool and draw those manually, but that often ends up looking ugly. A real tool for that would be way nicer, and a line tool as described would be universal and likely very helpful to a lot of people.
- Select the line tool (there are the usual settings for line color and thickness)
- Put the pen on the screen. This marks the start point of the line.
- Drag the pen over the screen. A line is drawn from the start point to the pen's current position. It dynamically updates as you move the pen.
- Lift the pen. The line becomes permanent.
- Using the selection tool on the line allows for moving the start and end points.
