Sheets closes on it's own
#1
When I open sheets, it then randomly closes without me touching anything.  It won't even reopen unless I reboot the tablet (sometimes 3 and 4 times). Is there a fix for this? Very frustrating, especially when I'm doing a gig!

Are you utilizing audio file playback by chance? You may need to bring up the audio player, tap the settings icon at the top right and uncheck "Use advanced audio player". I have fixes coming with the next update related to the audio player library, but I wanted to suggest this as a workaround as I'm currently working on the WinUI 3 port.

I have never used audio player. It pops up randomly (apparently I touch something that brings it up), but I always just close it. Found where to disable it, which I did, also unchecked "use advanced audio player." Yesterday, it randomly closed and I had to reboot. Any other suggestions?

When you say the sheets randomly close, is MobileSheets returning to the library screen? or is the app completely closing? What type of device are you on?

Thanks,

The app closes completely. When I try to reopen, it does nothing, so I have to reboot to even get it to open again.

Using a chromebook - Asus Flip C434 2 in 1;   M3 8100 Y processor;   8 GB ram;   64 GB storage; Chrome OS C434TA-DS384T

I'm on MS on ChromeOS since 2019.
Occasionally I had a few issues after OS update.

Steps I would try to resolve MS issues:

- BACKUP MS (settings/back & restore/backup library/destination cloud)

Next series of steps I would perform in steps to see which would resolve a problem:
- in ChromeOS settings/apps/manage Google Play preferences/Android Settings/Apps/All apps/MobileSheets: force stop or Clear cache & storage
- uninstall MS in ChromeOS and reinstall fresh MS
- if this doesn't help reinstall Android layer in ChromeOS/settings/apps/manage Google Play preferences/Remove Google Play and Android apps
- if this doesn't help Powerwash the device (backup everything you need from the device before)

MobileSheets on ChromeOS can be problematic at times. See this long thread: https://www.zubersoft.com/mobilesheets/f...l#pid51836

There is also a known issue where the OS can just close MobileSheets and stop it from being reopened for a while. I don't know why it's doing that, and it's not something MobileSheets itself can control. At this point, I don't generally recommend ChromeOS devices over standard Android tablets.

Nobody asked me, but:
My teacher, who runs Mobile Sheets on his Apple Ipad, recently also reported an randomly closing of the application without any further error messages. Maybe this issue is not related to the Chrome OS?

(Speaking for myself, I use MS on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 with Android 16, without ANY instantly crashes so far.)
Best Regards,
Johannes

That's most likely related to the audio player library (if your teacher experiences that any more, please have them contact me at mike@zubersoft.com so I can provide some suggestions to prevent that). You can tell them to try opening the audio player, tapping the settings icon and uncheck "Use advanced audio player". I'm not sure what else would have caused a crash on an iPad though. A crash like this is very different from what has been described on ChromeOS.
