I have found it useful at times to view and use sql queries against mobilesheets.db using a sqlite browser. But I use MobileSheets on an Android tablet and the only way I've found to view things at that level is to make a backup msb on Android, restore it to MobileSheets on WIndows and browse mobilesheets.db there. Is there some way to access the sqlite db on Android directly?

Just enable Settings->Storage->Expose Database, then you can access the file under the storage location (and you can change the storage location from the default if you want to be able to access it from other locations). If the tablet is connected over USB to a PC, you can browse directly into the default storage location folder and make a copy of the database to view it on the PC.
