Just a comment to show my interest in this feature. @agittins described almost exactly what I was planning to suggest.
I would appreciate very much if it ends up being implemented. I would happily pay an extra for it.

I'm also patiently waiting for this feature, and hopefully it is not far away, possibly in version 3.10.0 (we are now at 3.9.40).

My current work-around on Android tablets is to split the screen and use MobileSheets and a piano app simultaneously.
I'm using Mini Piano Pro (around $3) but there is also a free version with ads - Mini Piano Lite.
