Any chance we could see ePub support at some point?

I realize this is probably NOT within the remit of MobileSheets but it never hurts to ask?

As to why, my chorus has started making our programs available in digital format as ePubs so I'd love to file those with the music from the concert. It would also allow me to put some of my music theory and other music related books on the "same shelf" as my sheet music as opposed to "shelving" them with my regular books. Just like I keep my cookbooks in the kitchen and not in my "library".

Yes, I do believe I should be able to support that in the future, but it involves a lot of work to add a new file format as it touches so many parts of the application. So it may be a bit before I can work on this.

In what aspects do you expect ePub to be less static than PDF?

It's now 2026..   I believe that there are a number of libraries available for windows / android / apple now available.  Any chance this might be revisited?

It really just depends on how many users will benefit from it being added. There is an extremely large feature request list, so I'm trying to focus on things that are requested the most first. I don't get many requests for supporting ePub files. I get far more requests for supporting .docx files, for example.

And epubs aren't "dynamic" notation anyway but an archive of image scans of the sheet music in a html frame. If there's text added in the html (like Hal Leonard does for some) it usually makes the sheet music worse and unwieldier. I don't like sheet music as epub.

But you can easily open the epub in WinRar or 7zip, navigate to the image folder, extract it and use the images directly in MS or convert them to PDF. You don't need calibre for that and often will have a better result using the images directly from the epub. So that's an easy workaround aslong as epub can't be used in MS, I think. (And docx can be converted to PDF even easier from Word  directly with "save as".)

My interest is driven by the ability of PDFs to be littered with outside links from companies trying to get your attention, and even embedded malware by those with a good understanding of postscript.  The Epub format allows for music images but since it is HTML,  it's much easier to get rid of the links/malware content.   

For now, I'll run all my PDFs though a cleaning process.
